Formed in March 1949, membership of the association is is restricted to airmen who trained and qualified as Air Gunners in any of the three armed forces of the Crown, although the vast majority of members served in the RAF and Air Forces of the Commonwealth. Current membership stands at approximately 1800 despite the ravages of time.
