Jim MacNaught was based at El Ballah
near the Suez Canal in
Egypt with no: 13 Air Gunnery School. His time there was from May 1944 to
February 1945. Flying in Avro Ansons
His Log book records that during this time he trained a total of 127 air gunners.
The Air Gunners fired at a cloth target drogue towed on a cable behind a Westland Lysander. The world's last airworthy Lysander is part of the Shuttleworth Collection based at Old Warden Airfield, Bedfordshire. It is a regular at several vintage airshows, including the Shuttleworth displays and "Flying Legends" at Duxford.
